Ulverston Open Meet 2010
The annual Ulverston Open Meet takes place at Kendal on 25/9/2010. Information about the meet including entry forms can be found here. Please note that the entry times have needed to be amended and that the meet has been upgraded to Level 3.

North West Regional Championships 2010
Many congratulations to Katie Gunson, Austin Wilson. Georgia Hevey, Victoria
Hevey, Oliver Atkinson and Joe Elwood who represented the club in the Regional
Championships over the weekend. They all swam superbly in Liverpool's 50m Picton
pool.
Georgia, Katie and Oliver were swimming at the Championships for the first time
and did extremely well matching their PB times in the long course pool.
Austin, Joe and Victoria managed to make the finals with the following
highlights
Austin - 50m Butterfly 28.05 converts to 27.30 - Cumbria 15yr Age Group Record.
Victoria - 50m Backstroke 31.40 converts to 30.70 National Qualifying Time and
Commonwealth Trials qualifying Time. Gold medal - North West Region 50m
Backstroke Champion!
100m Backstroke 1.09.00 - Converts to 1.08.40 National Qualifying Time and
Silver medal.
Joe - 100 Backstroke 59.58 converts to 58.90 Commonwealth Trials Qualifying
Time, Cumbria Junior All Time Long Course Record. Silver
50 Backstroke 28.25 converts to
27.50 Commonwealth Trials Qualifying Time. Silver
200 Backstroke - Gold medal.
North West Regional Champion.
So, two new Regional Champions and the first national times for Victoria and
Austin's first County Record.
A great weekend, well done everyone.

PB and Club Record Updates
PBs and Club Records have been updated following the Cumbria Age Groups. A total of 202 PBs, 27 Club Records and 14 County Records were set by Ulverston swimmers over the 3 weekends. An enormously successful meet by anyone's standards! Well done to all!

We're Going Up, Up, Up!!
gsbelbin writes "Tonight the magnificent Otters secured their place back in Division 1 of National Arena Swimming League by coming 2nd to a very strong team from Hoylake. There will be a more detailed report to follow but there were many superb performances and PBs galore. The behaviour and team spirit were exemplary. Highlights for me were Jacky Wicks cracking the minute for 100 F/C for the first time on no training(!), Charlotte Hill swimming within tenths of her 100 breaststroke PB twice in the space of about 5 minutes and The Big Dog, Joe Elwood's stunning 23.55 final leg of the 4 x 50 F/C relay.
Well done Otters we're incredibly proud of you all!"

Funding for Coaching Courses
Anonymous writes "We've been informed that the University of Cumbria is making money available for funding coaching courses for a range of sports including swimming. Full details are available here. Individuals will need to apply themselves and may receiving funding up to 40% of the cost of the course (up to a maximum of £250)."
